Destiny(A Poem By CharmingJerk)

I would like to extend my gratitude for the brother @CharmingJerk for gifting Asylum this piece. Please follow the brother on Twitter, if you aren’t already.

All I can do is smile at the pain that comforts me
I’ve seen defeat before, but none to this magnitude
I’ve felt hurt before, but none with this attitude
Immeasurable calculations, unknown longitudes and latitudes
Yet, I still look at this challenge with so much gratitude
Deep breaths run their course through my body like veins
No room to move and none to complain
In compliance with my own will power, I strain
Losing sight of everything I could refuse to gain
I choose to progress, I refuse to lose
Although defeat whispers its mocking news
I tune out every thought that doesn’t have victory in view
With that dedication, my strength just grew
Many men and women have traveled this same path
Many have succumbed as defeat laughed
Not I. Not I. Not I.
I WILL NOT STOP. I WILL NOT TRY. I WILL.
