For The Thugs I smoked with and The Nerds I Drank with…

Seven years ago I walked out of prison and didn’t cry.

Seven months ago I became Owl Asylum, BA, and didn’t cry.

But…Today I released my second book…and I cried.

I don’t know completely why I cried. Maybe these punk ass glasses I’m wearing now done collected too much dust. Alright, I’m not going to blame it on the glasses.

There was a man that walked that earth that unified two warring groups of Blacks. And because he unified them, he became their king. In some ways I think I know what that feels like. To unify two warring communities simply because you have been through the worst that both could ever go through and you represented for both groups fucking damn well. Alright, maybe I’m being a bit cocky to say “damn” well…but…who you know with two degrees, an assault on law officers, an ACA, a robbery, and website that just clocked 5000 unique followers two months straight(DAMN RIGHT!!!), AND he just released his second book online? Naw, I ain’t bragging I’m just living, and I don’t do this for me…I do it for the possibility of the Black nerds and the Black thugs one day remembering me. That I walked on both sides of that street, that I went through every pain they all went through…and I hope they could be one, like I’ve had to be one through all this shit. Whatever y’all decide to do, I sleep on books for pillows, and fight in my sleep for dreams. I never let y’all down, don’t let me down.

  3. Yes, it is difficult to ditiingussh between wanting to impact a broader audience and desiring recognition…because developing a broader audience requires becoming recognized to some degree.Yet, there is a difference. Some days when I’m feeling doscouraged, I just have to say, “God, you know whose heart you have planned to speak to thru my words. Please help those people find my site, and use my words to reflect Your glory in their hearts.”I appeciate you, Michelle!
